Pak-Afghan trade pact: LHC puts off hearing till Aug 5

Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif adjourned the hearing of a case against Pak-Afghan transit trade till August 5, Dunya News reported on Monday. In a petition filed by former president tax bar association Shafqat Mehmood, it is contended that the said pact pose a serious threat to the solidarity of the country, which is detrimental for economy also. He also argued that it would boost terrorism in the country calling for its immediate scrapping. Khawaja Sharif directed submission of copy of the pact and put off the case till August 5. On the other hand, the CJ summoned Chairman and GM Railways on August 7 on suspension of 6 trains. During the hearing, the CJ observed that the Steel Mill and PIA should also be closed down for both the organizations are also running in loss.
