PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department has started work to supply electricity to various jails across the province through solar energy.
In this regard, the home department has sought recommendations from different companies, however, funds have not been allocated for the project yet.
On the other hand, the provincial government has allocated Rs248 million to improve security of the jails. Control rooms will be established at eleven jails for this purpose.
According to authorities, threat of terrorist attacks increased due to interruption in electricity supply to jails. This initiative will not only improve security measures but also keep CCTV cameras, scanners and other security devices running.
