Summary Sindh Cable Operators Association said that they will protest against imposition of Services Tax
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Sindh Cable Operators Association has on Sunday said that the body will protest against the imposition of services tax by the Sindh government and will also shut the cable down as protest, reported Dunya News.
Holding a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Cable Operators of Pakistan officials Khalid Araain, Ghufran Mujtaba and others said that Sindh Revenue Board has imposed a new tax on the consumers and cable operators, naming it as Cable Services tax. He said that protests will be held in all four provinces and cable services will be shut down if the government didn’t withdraw the decision. He demanded that the Sindh government should provide the cable operators with assistance in moving on to the latest technology and should declare the industry as tax free for the next ten years.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghufran Mujtaba said that the Sindh government should set a new example by withdrawing this tax on the cable operators. He said that the cable operators did not have the authority to give the channels the numbers of their choice.
Cable Operators appealed to the Chairman PEMRA that he should help the cable operators to get the industry freed of tax.
