Federal information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that martyrs sacrifices will not go in vain and talks can be held with every group that will lay down arms. While Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that no operation is being launched in Punjab, every action to maintain law and order will be taken by provincial governments. Talking to media after a high level meeting chaired by the PM in Islamabad, Kaira said that date of national conference will be finalized with consultation. He said that free media is vital for democracy. Steps are being taken to strengthen National Counter-Terrorism Authority, he added. Malik said that Sipah-e-Sahaba, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Tehreek-e-Taliban are helping terrorists. He said that arms are being smuggled from Afghanistan for these terror activities and Tehreek-e-Taliban is getting funds from foreign countries. He said that the government had information that terrorists will hit any imambargah or mosque in Lahore. He said that all activities of banned organizations are being blocked on the direction of the PM.
