Summary Wali urged the federation to strengthen the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali on Wednesday has demanded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to dissolve assembly and give up government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) after the alleged rigging in the local body (LB) polls.
He expressed these views in a media briefing after the meeting of ANP think tank.
He said that it was the government’s responsibility to maintain law and order in the province during the LB polling. He termed the arrest of former minister Mian Iftikhar disturbing and said that the supporters would take revenge with “interest”. The ANP chief said that they do not fear jails and they have survived oppression earlier.
The ANP leader said that Khan has hinted willingness to hold elections again but how can they let a "thief" become a guard after what happened. Wali has demanded the government to hold provincial and LB polls again in KP.
He urged the federation to strengthen the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) so that no party has to complain about rigging. How come Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and the then interim goverment leader Najam Sethi were responsible for rigging General Elections 2013 in Punjab but ECP is responsible for LB polls rigging in KP and not the provincial government? Asked Wali.
