LHC directs govt to stop drone attacks if unauthorized

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has directed the government to stop drone attacks inside Pakistan if the attacks are taken out without government permission. The petition, filed by Advocate Sardar Zaheer, had stated that drone attacks were an assault on the sovereignty of Pakistan and that several innocent people had died in these strikes. The petitioner requested the court to ask the federal government to submit a comprehensive report on any agreement or treaty with the US on drone attacks. The court, concluding the petitions hearing, directed the government to take action to stop the attacks in case they were being carried out without the federal government's authorization.
