Two separate meetings continue during the second day of the SAARC member nations session in Islamabad to step up cooperation in police and immigration departments. A meeting is being held under the chair of DG National Police Bureau, where Sri Lanka floated a suggestion to form a joint police force on the lines of Interpol. Lanka suggested that the police high-ups of all the member states be included in the said police force whereas the expenditures be borne by all the countries. Pakistan proposed to set up a technology institute besides equipping the police with new arms to combat terrorism. Regarding cooperation in immigration, a meeting is being held under the chair of DG Passport &Immigration Wajid Gilani, which is considering to ease the immigration policies. The proposals would be included in the secretary level talks.
