Gilani says Pakistan fighting war of its own survival

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said we are fighting war of our own survival and it has nothing to do with the US. Reffering to the Pak-Iran gas pipeline agreement, the PM said that Pakistan respects international law. He said this while responding to a question whether there was any pressure on Pakistan regarding the multi billion dollar Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. The PM paid his respects at the mausoleum of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He said his government under the vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto believed in a policy of consensus and wanted resolution of all such matters through reconciliation.To a question about the Kala Bagh dam issue, the prime minister said the matter was politicised in 1985 when former Governor Fazal-e-Haq said it would be constructed over his dead body. He said in the recent debate in the National Assembly some members of the former ruling party were playing to the gallery as they could have built the dam while they were in power. To a question about progress on a probe to investigate her death, Prime Minister said her assassins will never escape. He said in the light of the UN probe, the government was moving forward towards investigating her murder. He said Benazir Bhutto was a symbol of federation and it was in her recognition that a monument was being constructed at Islamabad. To a question he said Pakistan Peoples Party has traditionally been opposed to the establishment. He said it was the policy of the government to take all institutions together for moving ahead and making progress.
