Summary Secretary NA could be approached to withhold salaries and facilities, suggests registrar office

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday has rejected a plea urging the court to order Speaker National Assembly (NA) to approve Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) assembly members’ resignations.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Zafar Ali Shah had filed petition in the IHC. The petition stated that the court should order Speaker NA to accept PTI members’ resignations and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections in their constituencies.

However, the IHC registrar office maintained objections on the plea and rejected it. The registrar office asked the petitioner to approach NA Speaker and the ECP regarding PTI members’ resignations and holding of elections respectively.

Secretary NA could be approached to withhold resigned members’ salaries and facilities.
