PAC to stop functioning if recommendations overlooked: Nisar

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has demanded for actions against the Deputy Secretary Tariq Khakwani. He also announced that if no action would be initiated against Tariq Khakwani then there would be no more sessions of the Accounts Committee. He alleged that millions of rupees have been embezzled to allot plots to government employees and military officers.Chaudhry Nisar expressed dissatisfaction that the recommendations of the Account's Committee have been overlooked and Tariq Khakwani was still holding office. He said that his roots have penetrated deep into the government and these roots should be cut down. PAC has recovered Rs. 20 billion during the past one year allegedly embezzled in different government departments.Chairing the committee meeting which reviewed the audit reports of Ministry of Housing and Works and National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he said it is a big achievement that the committee has been successful in bringing back Rs. 20 billion in the national exchequer during the last one year. It was also briefed that NAB received four thousand complaints out of which inquiry is being held on 968 and 1643 cases have been lodged till now.
