The Supreme Court has rejected notification of appointment of Aftab Sultan for investigation of Bank of Punjab scandal case. The court has directed the Attorney General to send summary for new notification. Three member bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the BoP scam case. The Supreme Court maintained that the court had ordered that Aftab Sultan will lead the inquiry committee but in the summary he was asked to be appointed as coordinative of NAB in the case. The SC has directed the Establishment Division to send summary to issue the new notification. The SC adjourned the hearing till June 18. Earlier, in his arguments, lawyer of BoP Khawaja Haris said that if post of NAB chairman is vacant, it cannot be filled with acting chairman. He said that prosecutor general Irfan Qadir had worked at the same post. The SC asked the lawyer to submit the reply in written form.
