Summary The petition was submitted by MQM leader Shahid Sheikh.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Hearing of the petition, filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Sindh High Court (SHC) to declare the resigned seats of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) members vacant, was conducted today (Wednesday) in Karachi, Dunya News reported.

According to details, SHC Chief Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajpoot heard the petition and issued notices to Election Commission (EC) and speaker Sindh Assembly till April 10.

The petition submitted by MQM leader Shahid Sheikh stated that it is unconstitutional not to accept the resignations of four members of PTI as they have not returned to the assembly after resigning on September 4 whereas the resignations were accepted in January 2015.

Moreover, it also stated that speaker Sindh assembly and Election Commission (EC) is being subject of breaching the constitution by doing so therefore, by-election should be conducted by vacating the seats of PTI members.

The petitioner also requested to direct the speaker Sindh Assembly to accept the resignations.

The resigned PTI members include Syed Hafeezuddin, Khurram Sher Zaman, Samar Ali Khan and Seema Zia.
