Sialkot brothers' lynching: Seven inmates to be executed on April 8
The convicts were involved in killing two brothers Mughees and Muneeb in August 2011 in Sialkot.
SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Death warrants of as many as seven convicts issued in a murder case of two brothers in Sialkot today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.
Judge of special courts Justice Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed directed the jail superintendent to execute the inmates, Jameel Jeela, Rashid Mehr, Iqbal, Ameen, Ali Raza, Shafiq and Sarfraz, on April 8. The warrants were issued while rejecting the bail pleas of the suspects.
The honorable judge termed the incident shameful and enraged over the inefficient performance of security forces.
Moreover, suspects lawyer stated to file a petition against the death sentence in Supreme Court (SC).
The incident took place in Sialkot Saddar police station limits on 15 August 2011 when two brothers Muneeb and Mughees were publicly lynched and killed by a mob while police officials stood by and watched. Sialkot Saddar police station lodged two FIRs, the first was lodged on 15 Aug, in which the two brothers were accused of murder and robbery.

Earlier, seven culprits have been sentenced to death on four counts, six sentenced to life in jail while 5 accused have been freed.
Former DPO Waqar Ahmed Chohan and 9 policemen have been jailed for three years.
Talking to Dunya News, the grandfather of the lynched youth Muneeb and Mughees thanked the media and the Chief Justice for doing justice.
He said the day (of the verdict) comes as a sad day as it reflects on the overall deterioration of values in society. He said his (grand) sons were lynched in front of the whole village while not a single voice for raised to stop the cruelty.
While, the second FIR was lodged after the video of the lynching was played on news channels leading to a suo motu notice by the Supreme Court.The FIR was lodged against 28 including former DPO Sialkot and other police officials.
The accused were charged on November 3, 2011 and the statements of 31 witnesses were recorded.
