LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government successfully concluded its talk with Christian community on Monday, after ensuring the safety of churches and promise of taking due action against the culprits behind the attack, Dunya News reported.

The protestors have decided to call off demonstrations post negotiation.

The demonstrations by Christian community were getting violent by the moment when Punjab government decided to engage in negotiations, led by former law minister Rana Sanaullah.

Rana Sanaullah met with members of Christian community and assured them of safety of churches and of the lives of the citizens.
Provincial Federal Minister Colonel Shuja Khanzada expressed solidarity with Christian community and asked the grieved ones to refrain from resorting to violence.

After the reassurance by officials of Punjab government, the Christian community decided to call off the demonstrations after which the tensions in Youhanabad colony abated..

Earlier today, the mob at Ferozpur road had its way while the police was absent from the proceeding throughout the day.

Women and children travelling in local transport were seen scared as they shouted aloud for help but no one came to their call.

During the incident, a woman in her car got frightened and rushed her car in the crowd to get away from the mob, resulting in injuries. Among the injured were 2 children Amir, aged 12 and Danish, aged 18 who succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.


The mob followed the car, throwing stones at it while the woman drove off to a distance and abandoned the card, deciding to travel on foot instead. The car was comprehensively destroyed by the mob.

Protests also continued in Gujranwala throughout the day. Rallies were taken out in Francisabad, Awan chowk, Sheranawala Bagh and in other regions as well in the city.

The protestors gave a sit-in at Pindi-bypass.

The crowd attacked cars on the roads and forced stutter down in markets in the city. They also robbed shops and looted drinks and beverages from the shops.

The portestors also blocked Chandakila bypass which caused inconvenience for people travelling in vehicles as they waited in long lines for traffic to be restored.

The agitated protestors resorted to attacking with sticks to which the police responded with baton charge.

15 people were also arrested by the police
