Summary Haqqani was made chief of Jamaatul Ahrar's shura after militant Hakimullah Mehsud was killed
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – At least two key banned outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) subgroup Jamaatul Ahrar commanders, Qari Shakeel Haqqani and Dr Tariq were killed in an operation by the Afghanistan security forces in Parchawa area. Haqqani had claimed responsibility for the Lahore Police Lines and Wagah Border attacks.
According to the sources, Haqqani was also named behind charting out Army Public School (APS) Peshawar attack on December 16. Haqqani was made chief of Jamaatul Ahrar’s shura after militant Hakimullah Mehsud was killed. Before that Haqqani was forced to leave the militant Islamist group due to difference of opinion with Mehsud.
Haqqani was also the chief of the TTP committee to have held talks with the government. He escaped to Afghanistan after the Pakistan Army started operation against militants in Mohmand agency.
While, Tariq had ealier claimed responsibility of killing at least 11 foreigners in Kohistan Dasu, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers in Karachi along with several other terror attacks.
