Summary Institutions possess capability to produce 11 crore ballot papers in time for local body elections
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -- Printing Corporation of Pakistan, Security Printing Corporation and Post Office of Pakistan have expressed inability to cope with demand of printing 50 crore ballot papers in requisite of 25 days, Dunya News reported.
It is learned that these institutions possess capability to produce only 11 crore ballot papers in 25 days.
The deficit of 39 crore ballot papers will be printed through private printing companies, as suggested by authorities.
According to Secretary Election Commission, Printing Corporation of Pakistan possess capacity to churn out 25 crore while Post Office of Pakistan can print 2 crore ballot papers in 25 days.Security Printing Corporation, he added, can print 6 lacs ballot papers daily.
Addressing the media, Acting Secretary of Election Commission Sher Afghan said that elections will be held in 64000 wards of Punjab and Sindh. He added that the schedule for local body elections will be issued on 28th July whereas the list of final candidates will be displayed on 24th August.
50 crore ballot papers are needed by Election Commission to hold local body elections. Out of 50 crore, 8 crore will go to Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, 40-42 crore will go to Punjab and Sindh while 50 lacs will go to Islamabad and cantonments.
Secretary Cabinet and Printing Corporation of Pakistan were advised to upgrade the current machinery and bring it up to latest standards.
