Outpour from Attabad lake increasing

The inflow from the spillway of the artificial lake at Attaabad has increased to 3,000 cusecs. Large cracks have emerged on the spillway increasing the possibility of severe floods. The discharge reached the level of 900 cusecs. The lake has expanded to the area of Passo while its length now stretches over 35 km. The depth of the lake is at least 300 feet. The cutouts in the land have increased to 40 percent.On the other hand due to continuous increasing of water level 48 more houses in Gojal will inundate in the next five days. At least 10 more houses sunk in Gulmit and Shashkat taking the total number of houses affected by the water to 245. Engineers and experts have ruled the possibility of a collapse currently. However the officials have termed the next 48 hours as crucial.
