Summary It is time that anti-terror plan is presented in the Parliament, says PM
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday has said that the war against terror calls for extraordinary decisions and that establishment of army courts is not Pakistan Army’s wish but it is the need of time.
He expressed these views in the All Parties Conference (APC) in Islamabad.
While addressing the participants he said that Pakistan has reached a sensitive stage in the war against terrorism. The COAS said that as a nation they could not even think of losing the war against terrorism and that Pakistan would win this war at any cost.
General Sharif also said that the future of the nation would depend on the decisions they take in the present. Decisions made in the present would determine the destination of the nation, he added. The COAS urged the political leadership of the country to continue showing solidarity towards the cause. He also urged the participants to pay attention on the implementation of the decisions taken by all the members collectively.
The COAS further said that after the situation gets normal, they would return to the usual system of the country.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said that the kind of solidarity political leadership of the country is showing towards the cause of eliminating terrorism is exemplary and that they would not tolerate terrorists and their acts of terror anymore. He said that it is time that anti-terror plan be presented in the Parliament.
The PM said that the 20-point draft should soon be presented in the Parliament after taking final decision on it. The conference started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman.
The PM said that the political leadership has sat together for the third time in last 15 days which is a very positive step. He admired the solidarity being showed by the political parties of the country for a common cause. Nawaz Sharif also said that the committee formed after the Peshawar attack submitted its recommendations within seven days. The political leaders made it clear that there is no place for terrorism in the country, he added.
All political parties agreed over 20-point plan. The PM said that the people of the country now want to see the implementation of the National Action Plan. He also said that the entire nation has expectations from this conference. PM Nawaz said that they would take the 20-point draft to the Parliament today (Friday) and that there should be no need for further discussion in the Parliament about this after three meeting of the political parties over the matter.
The Pakistan Army has also finalised its planning regarding the matter, he added. Nawaz Sharif said that now it is about time that the country is made free of this evil of terrorism.
The PM further said that the tenure of the army courts would be of two years which would bring positive results. The forces that spread hatred and violence must have put an end to much before, he added.
