PM chairs consultative meeting, legislative draft for terrorists' speedy trial presented

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is chairing a meeting of committee constituted to oversee implementation of national plan of action against terrorism in Islamabad today (Saturday).

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt and Special Assistants Khawaja Zaheer and Barrister Zafarullah are attending the meeting.

The meeting is reviewing decisions taken during all parties conference and implementation of national action plan against terrorism.

According to sources, Attorney general Salman Butt briefed the participants regarding various legal and constitutional affairs.

First legislative draft regarding amendment in the constitution for speedy trial of the terrorists has also been presented in the meeting. The Prime Minister has directed take other political parties onboard regarding the draft.

Sources further told that a meeting of National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has been summoned on Wednesday (December 31). Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar will head the meeting of NACTA executive committee to review the government strategy against terrorism.
