ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Monday met opposition leader in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah to finalise the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan however, no name has been given out yet.

While talking to the media, Shah said that since the court has granted time until December 5 so a name would be finalized soon.

Both the leaders discussed various names for the post but so far no one has been finalised to serve as the CEC.

He also said that around five to six names were under consideration today with the PM but none was agreed upon by either of the parties.

Shah said that tomorrow (Tuesday) they would meet again to discuss the matter.

If he takes a name in front of media, Sharif brothers would run away from the talks, he added.

Shah said that he advised the PM to hold talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan adding, that he also wants to resolve the matter once for all with Khan.

The PM asked Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar to start the dialogue process with Khan.

He also said that he would discuss the solution to the political upheaval in the country regarding sit-ins with other political parties after his visit to Britain.

PM Nawaz also said that it is Khan’s democratic right to protest and that Pakistan is our homeland and nobody is strong enough to shut it at any level.
