Death toll in famine-hit Thar reaches 136 in 59 days
Dropping temperature causes pneumonia while insufficient warm clothing adds to the misery.
THARPARKAR (Dunya News) – Famine engulfed three more lives in Thar rising the death toll to 136 in a span of 59 days.
Two children were shifted to Hyderabad in the wake of their critical condition. According Mithi administration the increased rate of deaths is caused by malnutrition and lack of vaccination.
The continuously dropping temperature caused pneumonia while insufficient warm clothing added to the misery of dearth-struck people of Thar. More than 25 children are being treated at the hospital whereas the number of beds is not enough to accommodate the affected people causing them to wait in the corridors for the beds to vacate.
