LAHORE (Dunya News) – The toll of polio-affected people reached 202 in the current year as eight new polio cases emerge, Dunya News reported on Friday.
At least four new cases have emerged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two in federally administrated tribal areas (FATA), and one each in Balochistan and Sindh.
According to the details, the outbreak in the current year has broken fourteen-year-old record.
The head of National Institute of Health Rana Safdar said that there were 199 polio cases reported in the year 2000.
Pakistan already faces travel restrictions. Earlier this year, World Health Organization (WHO) had recommended making administration of polio vaccination a must for those travelling abroad.
