NWFP renaming: Efforts picked up to end impasse

Efforts by the political circles gained momentum to end the deadlock over the renaming of NWFP.ANP leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour called on the Prime Minister today and discussed renaming of NWFP.Talking to media after the meeting, Bilour said that meeting between Asfand Yar Wali and Nawaz Sharif is likely today.Meanwhile, Chaudhry Shujat Hussain has assured ANP of all-out support regarding the renaming of NWFP, Dunya News reported on Monday.The ANP delegation, led by Afrasiab Khattak, called on Ch Shujat at his Islamabad residence to take his stance on NWFP renaming as Pakhtoonkhwa. Shujat assured Khattak of support, however, added that he would give the final approval after consulting with his party. Talking to media after the meeting, Shujat said that renaming of a province should not be made an issue, and added that all the issues be sorted out with consultations.He termed PML-N as one-man show, while Mushahid Hussain said that his part did not want to use the political card. On the other hand, Shahbaz Sharif would meet with his party members to discuss renaming of NWFP in Islamabad today.Sources said that Shahbaz would be visiting the capital today to do away with the deadlock over the said issue.
