LAHORE (Dunya News) – Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq said on Friday that government and the protestors have to come to the dialogue table to resolve issues, fearing a hidden element might be waiting for dead bodies to satisfy ulterior motives, Dunya News reported.
Addressing a press conference, Haq said that staging sit-ins and long marches is political way of putting demands across, adding that at least one long march takes place in neighbouring India every year.
Jamaat chief proposed that all stakeholders should take the issue to the negotiation table and begin the dialogue.
He said it is crucial to protect the constitution and democracy, adding that if anything was to happen to the constitution, it would be impossible to hold the country together.
Proposing the solution, Sirajul Haq said that the stakeholders should start the direct dialogue process soon.
He also recommended formation of negotiation committee comprising politicians to find a political and middle way.
JI chief said that Lahore is a sacred city and that he is grateful that no unwanted incident pertaining to the long marches took place here.
