Summary "Current government has not given me any extension" - Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan has denied Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s allegations today (Tuesday) saying that he has not received any extension by the current government.

Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan said that he was given an extension in 2011 by the then Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. He also told that he had resigned from his post in 2012 but Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Prime Minister did not accept the resignation.

“In 2013, I was given an extension of one year by the then Chief Election Commissioner Tasadduq Hussain Jillani for holding the local bodies’ elections”, told Secretary Election Commission.

Ishtiaq Ahmad said that he was never given an extension by the current government. He said that it was unfortunate that leader of a big political party was trying to malign him. He said that those trying to malign him had no proofs to support their argument.

Imran Khan had alleged yesterday during his press conference that Secretary Election Commission was given an extension for his assistance in alleged rigging of General Elections 2013. Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan termed the allegation baseless.
