Summary IGP Punjab rejects allegations leveled by PTI’s lawyer that police are harassing the party workers.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered police not to arrest or harass the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers.
The LHC heard a petition, filed by advocate Ahmed Awais, regarding arrest of the PTI workers. The petitioner informed the court that the government was creating hurdles in “Azadi March” by detaining their party workers, closing petrol pumps and forcing the people to stay indoors.
The court also directed the Punjab government to lift containers, remove hurdles from roads and ensure smooth supply of fuel.
Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab informed the court that police were not harassing or detaining PTI workers.
The PTI’s lawyer said that the police chief was unaware of the fact that what was going on under his belt as his subordinates were detain PTI workers illegally.
Meanwhile, harsh words were also exchanged between the police chief and Ahmed Awais.
