PP 107 by-elections: PML-N, PTI workers clash over fake voting

PML- N workers allegedly tortured a presiding officer of a polling station.

HAFIZABAD (Dunya News) - Polling in election in Punjab Assembly’s PP-107 Hafizabad-3 continued on Thursday with brawls between the workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The female workers of PML-N and PTI clashed over allegations of casting fake votes. Some enraged PTI workers stopped a car of PML-N female supporters who came from Lahore. The PTI blamed that the female were found casting fake votes. Some enraged PTI workers also punched and kicked their car.

They alleged that the PML-N supporters were hiding fake votes in their car. However, police rushed to the scene and controlled the situation.

Meanwhile, voting continued at polling station number 111 despite unavailability of magnetic ink.

On the other hand, PML-N workers tortured presiding officer of polling station no 60. According to Presiding Officer Altaf Hussain, the PML-N workers tortured him on the order of their MPA. Polling was suspended for some time but it restarted again.

Moreover, some enraged persons tried to attack PML-N MPA Asadullah Arain. Sarfraz Khan Bhatti of PML-N and Nghat Intasar of PTI are the main contestants.

It is pertinent to mention here that PP-107 was vacated after an Independent candidate Shoaib Shahnawaz was declared ineligible by the ECP.
