Summary During the health campaign, over 0.5 million children will be inoculated in Peshawar.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The second phase of "Justice for Health" kicked off on Sunday morning in 60 union councils of Peshawar city of Khyber Pakhutnkhwa.

During the campaign, over 0.5million children will be inoculated against nine deadly diseases including polio.
The health campaign was launched by provincial health minister Shaukat Yousafzai in Ludma area of Peshawar. The KPK minister administered polio drops to a child during the launching ceremony.

Around 50 families in the same union council refused to get their children vaccinated.

Shaukat Yousafzai said it was one of the first healthcare reforms ever initiated in Pakistan against nine deadly diseases.

Around 5,000 PTI volunteers along with lady health workers, teachers and security guards are participating in the campaign

The campaign aims to inoculate around 754,000 children and will continue for three months.

Meanwhile, strict security measures were ensured to avoid any untoward incident.

It is important to mention that polio workers had been targeted across the country including Peshawar and Karachi.

Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world where polio is still endemic, but efforts to stamp out the crippling disease have been hit by repeated attacks on health teams.

Officials blame the violence and suspicions about the vaccine for a surge in cases. According to the World Health Organization, Pakistan recorded 72 cases of polio in 2013 compared to 58 in 2012.
