ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Federal Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali turned to Sindh after questing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and claimed that 98 percent of electricity in member National Assembly Faryal Talpur’s constituency Naudero is stolen.
Addressing a press conference, Abid Sher Ali told the press that most electricity is stolen in Sukkur division and that the recovery of debt is less than 40 percent. Sher Ali said that the federal government will have to shut down all the feeders if electricity theft is not curbed.
Federal minister alleged that 98% of electricity used in Faryal Talpur’s constituency is obtained by theft. What do you call obtaining electricity through hooks if not cruelty? He asked. No one will be given free electricity, he insisted.
Sher Ali further said that crackdown against electricity thieves is also akin to the war on terror as the country cannot progress until electricity theft is curbed.
