ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday approved the proposal to hand over the control of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government.

The Ministry of Water and Power will send request the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to take over the charge of PESCO.

The letter in this regard would be writen to the Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in next few days.

As per the 18th Amendment of the Constitution, the provinces enjoy the right of supply of electricity and its recovery.

It is worth mentioning here that Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had asked the federal government to hand over the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to control the frequent breakdown of electricity.
