The gas supply to many industrial units including Karachi Electric Supply Company has been suspended as the gas shortfall reached its record highest in the country, while gas loadshedding has also been initiated for the domestic consumers. According to Petroleum Ministry, Sui Southern and Northern Gas Companies have suspended supply to many units as the increase in demand pushed the shortfall to 940 million cubic feet (MMCFD).The demand of gas is around 4050 MMCFD; however, the supply is around 3110 MMCFD.Meanwhile, gas laodshedding has been increased for the domestic consumers due to rise in mercury, with public complaining of low pressure even when there were no gas outages.On the other hand, the gas supply to the CNG stations of Peshawar and other cities would remain suspended for two days under the gas load management plan.CNG stations would remain shut till 6:00am Tuesday.On Sunday, the gas supply to the following cities of NWFP: Peshawar, Nowshera, Kohat, Mingora, Saidau Sharif, Mardan, Swabi, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, while in Punjab: Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Gujrat, Lala Musa, Sialkot, Daska, Narowal, and other cities CNG stations has been suspended.According to Sui gas officials, the gas crisis would prevail till February end.
