Govt-Taliban talks will have positive outcome: minister

Summary Pervaiz Rashid says Taliban had showed willingness to hold dialogue and govt welcomed it.

ISLAMABAD (Online) - The government expressed the hope that dialogue with Taliban would produce positive results for restoring peace and tranquility in the country, state media reported on Sunday.

Information Minister Pervez Rashid in an interview said the government is exercising the option of talks with Taliban as proposed and endorsed by All Parties Conference.

Information Minister said Taliban had showed willingness to hold dialogue and the government welcomed it and responded with a positive gesture.

He said Pakistan is following the policy of non-interference in other country s affairs and no one would be allowed to interfere in Pakistan s affairs.

Talking about the foreign policy‚ the Minister said that international community has appreciated the vision of Prime Minister‚ Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Pervaiz Rashid said Pakistan wanted friendly relations with India for lasting peace and stability in the region.

About electricity tariff‚ the Minister said government has removed subsidy on power to check circular debt does not increase again.

The Minister said government would continue to provide one hundred sixty-seven billion rupees subsidy to consumers using up to two hundred units.

He said that country had to generate electricity through hyderal and coal resources as it was a cheaper way to address energy shortage.

He said the government would establish coal power projects to generate 6600 MW electricity in the country.
