ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared the promotion of eighty bureaucrats as null and void.
Grade-20 and 21 officers are among the bureaucrats.
Announcing the verdict in a civil servants promotion case‚ a three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry declared that promotions made during former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf s tenure were illegal.
The court directed that the process should be carried out purely on merit and a new board should be established for the promotion of the officers.
Promotion Policy 2013 and Civil Services Act should also be brought into consideration for officers promotion, the court said.
