Summary Spokesman TTP Shahidullah Wednesday said that only ceasefire was not enough.
MIRANSHAH (Online) - Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan while putting onus into governments’ side has demanded closure of drone attacks before talks.
Spokesman TTP Shahidullah Shahid talking to media on Wednesday said that only ceasefire is not enough; drone attacks should also be stopped.
“If drone attacks remains continue we will not accept ceasefire,” he mentioned.
Shahid added that closure of security forces’ operations is not sufficient, adding drone attacks should also be stopped in tribal areas without which ceasefire will not be accepted, he added.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his US visit had reiterated Pakistan government’s stance about drone attacks that these attacks were a violation of sovereignty of Pakistan.
Earlier, Ulema and representatives of various religious seminaries functioning under Wafaqul Madaris expressed concern on Monday over the “civil war-like situation” in the country and appealed to both the government and the Taliban to observe a “complete ceasefire” till the completion of the process of talks.
The appeal was made in a joint statement issued after a “consultative meeting” of the Ulema and teachers of seminaries held at a hotel. It was presided over by Wafaqul Madaris chief Maulana Salimullah Khan.
