MURREE (Agencies) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Afghan President Karzai held a 2nd round of one-on-one exclusive talks.
He said this during a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Murree on Tuesday. He said Pakistan s prosperity‚ security and stability is linked with Afghanistan.
He said both the countries face common challenges and the two need to be on the same page. He said Pakistan will continue to support Afghan reconciliation process. The prime minister also hosted a luncheon for the visiting Afghan President and his delegation.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar‚ Advisor on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatimi and Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed regional security situation besides other issues including ways to curb terrorism and further improve Pak-Afghan relations to bring stability and peace to the region.
Pakistan has made it clear on various occasions that a stable‚ strong and peaceful Afghanistan is in its interest as stability of the region and progress of Pakistan is linked with peace in that country.
Earlier Prime Minister Muahmmad Nawaz Sharif and President Hamid Karzai held one on one meeting in Islamabad this morning and exchanged views on bilateral issues besides discussing regional situation with particular focus on post-NATO troops withdrawal from Afghanistan next year.
They also discussed border situation and possible cooperation in war against terrorism.
The Afghan President requested Pakistan Government to assist in ongoing reconciliation process in Afghanistan to bring peace and stability in the country.
It is pertinent to mention that the Afghan President extended his visit for a day on the request of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who will host a luncheon in his honour today.
