Summary Sindh Advocate General tells the SC that unrest in Lyari is not political but criminal issue.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Zaheer Anwar Jamali resumed hearing of Karachi unrest case.
Sindh Revenue Department submitted a report regarding government land record in Karachi division.
The report said that topographical survey of 87 out of 93 villages and maps of 67 villages had been completed.
Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked that the court had ordered survey. He said it seemed that the department was not interested in bring an end to land grabbing.
The revenue department authorities told the court that land mafia and some government institutions were involved in grabbing of 10, 515 acres of government’s land in Karachi.

Justice Khilji Arif Hussain in his remarks said that the action against the criminals is suspended just on a single phone call.
He said how police could restore peace in the whole city when it was unable to end unrest in a small area. He said that his children were robbed outside the home and saved their life by handing over their phone sets to the criminals.
Justice Amir Hani Muslim inquired from Sindh IG why action was not taken against SSP South after the escape of the accused from the police custody.
He said it seemed that police did not have the proper handcuffs.
“Substandard material was being used in manufacturing of railway engines and handcuffs for the criminals,” he said in a sarcastic vein.
The SC adjourned the hearing till July 22.
