SC starts hearing of reopened cases from today

A three-member bench of Supreme Court will start hearing cases which have reopened after striking down of NRO from today, reported Dunya News. Three-member bench is headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary. Other judges include Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain. The bench will also hear petitions challenging article 248 of the constitution which gives immunity to the president. Earlier, the security alarms rung in the SC after which court proceedings were suspended for some time. However, later SC Registrar said that alarms rung mistakenly and the court activity resumed afterward. On the other hand, Lahore High Court has adjourned hearing of cases against NRO beneficiaries till January 5.
