ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is observing day of mourning in Sindh today (Thursday) to protest against the killing of President Zardari’s chief security officer Bilal Sheikh in a suicide attack in Karachi.

 

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon announced that markets will remain open and transport will remain usual as the mourning day will be observed peacefully.

 

Measnwhile, all organisational activities of the PPP would remain suspended.

 

Jamshed Quarter Police registered the First Inspection Report (FIR) under Sections 3/4 of the Explosives Act and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on the complaint of the security in-charge of the deceased.

 

The top security chief of President Asif Ali Zardari was killed along with his driver and a fruit vendor when a suicide bomber blew himself up near his bulletproof vehicle in Guru Mandir area of Karachi on Wednesday evening.

 

Bilal Sheikh, 45, who had been serving as the chief security officer of President Zardari since 2008, asked his driver to stop his vehicle to buy fruit from a roadside vendor.

 

The attack occurred a day before the start of the holy month of Ramazan, underlining the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

 

The victim’s funeral prayer will be offered at his residence in Gulbahar today and his body will be buried in the graveyard near Liaqatabad.
