Summary JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti says the city has become a slaughter house.
KARACHI (Online) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should also visit Karachi and take effective steps for restoration of peace in the city.
He made this demand while addressing a protest rally of JI workers against ongoing target killing and rise in extortion cases held at main M.A. Jinnah Road in front of New Memon Masjid here on Wednesday.
The protestors were chanting slogans against the government and law enforcing agencies. They were also holding placards and banners inscribed with the catch-phrases for retrieving peace in financial hub, Karachi.
Addressing a protest rally, JI Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti said that the city has become slaughter house, as dozens of the innocent people are being targeted on daily basis, but the government, police, Rangers and other law enforcing agencies have not yet taken any step to arrest the culprits.
“Nearly 750 people have been targeted by armed assailants in last 5 months, adding that such incidents have increased after the elections 2013”, he added.
Mahenti further regretted that no investigation has also been conducted in Shershah and Abbas Town mayhems, adding no arrest could be made in this regard.
He said that the target killings are being continued for last 27 years, adding that various terrorist outfits are active in the city in order to conduct target killings.
On the occasion, Mahenti demanded of the government to take stern action against the extortionists before Ramzan.
JI General Secretary Naseem Siddiqui said that the Prime Minister should fulfil his pledge made before the elections that PML-N government will restore peace in the city.
He regretted that the extortion and target killing incidents have been raised after elections 2013. “Why the Chief Justice of Pakistan is not taking sue-motto notice over Karachi law and order situation”, he questioned.
