KARACHI (dunya news): Lawyers across the country boycotted court proceedings to protest against yesterday’s suicide attack on Sindh High Court’s (SHC) judge Justice Maqbool Baqar.
At least nine people were killed and 15 others injured on Wednesday when a bomb targeting the convoy of Justice Maqbool Baqar exploded near Karachi’s Burns Road area.
Courts across Sindh, Punjab, KP and Balochistan wore a deserted look as lawyers boycotted legal proceedings after an announcement was made yesterday by the Pakistan Bar Association.
In Lahore, lawyers boycotted court proceedings in Sessions Courts, District Kutchehry, Model Town and Cantt Kutchehry.
While recording their protest, they were of the view that law and order situation in the country is so pitiable that innocent people are mercilessly being targeted without any justification while law enforcement agencies are silent over this.
They also demanded of high ups that special security measures should be arranged for protection of lawyers and judges.
