Summary PPP leader Senator Raza Rabbani says his party will oppose Tax Ordinance tooth and nail.
ISLAMABAD (Online) - Senior leadership of PPP has said that issuance of Tax Ordinance by the Caretaker government is unconstitutional and PPP will oppose this ordinance tooth and nail in the coming sessions of Senate and National Assembly.
“Caretaker government has no authority of restructuring of one of the ministries devolved to the provinces because it is the violation of 18th amendment”. Raza Rabbani said this while talking to media after Senate session here on Thursday.
He hoped that PML-N will support PPP’ stance over the matter because PML-N was also with his party during the 18th amendment, adding that the issuance of tax ordinance was illegal and unconstitutional.
Caretaker government has no authority to decide tax related matters and such step will not be only the violation of 18th amendment but will breach Caretaker’ mandate too, which would not be acceptable at any cost, Raza Rabbani added.
It is pertinent to mention that Caretaker government is all set to issue ordinance regarding Tax under which General Sales Tax (GST) will increase to repair the budget deficit.
This ordinance issued by the Caretaker government will be presented to what house in the absence of National Assembly, Mian Raza Rabbani maintained.
