Summary Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi has pleaded against Malik for not withdrawing dual nationality.
ISLAMABAD (Online) - Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected contempt of court plea against former Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
Three-member bench of judges, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearings of the case on Tuesday.
The application was filed by Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, in which he stated that Malik did not withdraw dual nationality and during this, Malik contested Senate elections twice and won.
On which, the apex court issued notice to Chairman Senate over not sending disqualification reference of Rehman Malik to the ECP after the confirmation of Malik’s dual nationality.
The applicant mentioned that Malik did not submitted cancellation certificate of dual nationality in the court.
Former Interior Minister, Rehman Malik while submitting reply before the court clarified that he has withdrawn dual nationality and had submitted the cancellation certificate.
It has been written in the decision that Rehman Malik many times pleaded before the court regarding adjournment of case hearing but later he had submitted the cancellation certificate.
On the objections of Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, the court concluded that application is being rejected and the court would not resume more hearings of the case.
