Summary Death toll from suicide blast near Awami National Party rally has risen to 18.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – At least 18 people were killed and more 56 others, including policemen, were hurt when a blast exploded in Yakka Toot area where ANP was holding an election rally on Tuesday.
The car of ANP candidate from the constituency Haroon Bilour caught fire after the blast.
According the Dunya News reporter, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour was also present in the rally and he has been also hurt.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso have condemned the blast.
Interior Minister Malik Habib has sought report from IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about the incident.
ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan in his reaction criticized decision of the government to withdraw security of ANP leaders despite security threats.
He stated that a specific group wants to keep ANP out of upcoming elections.Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim has strongly condemned explosions in Balochistan and Peshawar and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
