�ECP offices not closed to media�
Denying media reports spokesperson says a focal person has been appointed at media persons� demand.
ISLAMABAD (Online): Election Commission has refuted media reports that it has closed its doors on media and dubbed such an impression as not correct and contrary to the factual position
ECP spokesperson said that the ECP has always taken all necessary steps to facilitate access to media subject to reasonable restrictions in the interest of working of the ECP as well as to streamline the procedure with regard to provision of information to the media.
Besides, as media persons were complaining that instead of providing information on individual basis, this should be done through a focal person, thus a proper focal person has been appointed on their demand, he said.
“All the officers of the ECP have been directed to follow the proper channel of providing information to the focal person for dissemination to media persons and not to communicate any updates directly.
In addition, for specific questions or for interviews, the media is also being facilitated; however, the security and discipline cannot be obviously compromised”, the spokesperson said.
