Shahzeb case: SC orders immediate arrest of killers
CJP orders authorities to freeze accounts of the culprits and cancel their passports.
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, while hearing a suo moto notice of the brutal murder of Shahzeb Khan, expressed anger over absence of Sindh Inspector General and ordered him to appear in court on January 12, Dunya news reported.
Shahzeb Khan, the youth was gunned down on December 25 by members of an influential family in Karachi over a minor dispute. The murder incident sparked anger and worry among youth, civil society and political leaders of the country who protested against the brutal killing and demanded justice for Shahzeb.
During today s case proceeding, Additional IG Sindh told court that IG was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad at 7am but his flight was cancelled due to bad weather condition.
The Chief Justice responded that IG Sindh deliberately missed today’s proceeding. He remarked that influential killers of an innocent youth are still at large.
The apex court ordered IG Sindh to arrest the murderers at earliest, otherwise, he will be removed immediately.
Later, the case hearing was adjourned till January 7.
