Summary

Preparations for the meeting between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have been completed in which Constitutional Reforms Committee has also been invited, Dunya News Monday reported. Constitutional amendments including 17th amendment will come under discussion in the meeting.Sources revealed that from Pakistan Peoples Party side, Amin Fahim, Raza Rabbani, Babar Awan, Khursheed Shah, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Qamar Zaman Kaira will participate while Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Raja Zafar ul Haq, Ghous Ali Shah, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and Javed Hashmi are invited from PML-N.On the other hand, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif told Dunya News that President Zardari and Nawaz Sharif had met several times before but the meetings remained largely fruitless, therefore, expectations should not be high this time also.Senior Analyst Haroon-ur-Rasheed said the meeting was very important and both the leaders would talk openly. If both of them dont have confidence then there isnt much annoyance too. President Zardari will want support on the NRO which Nawaz Sharif cannot do as he has a lot of public pressure, Haroon maintained. He opined that President Zardari needed this meeting more than Nawaz Sharif as the former was alone, weak and unpopular. President Zardari is mentally ready to accept all the demands including 17th amendment and electing Prime Minister for third term. In return he will seek Nawazs support for National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and resumption of relations, he added. Haroon said two opinions were being given, first, announcement would be made immediately that all the demands had been accepted. Whereas, some people believe that some agreements would be made in the meeting and announcements would be made later. He welcomed the meeting regardless of the results and refuted Khawaja Asifs statement that expectations should not be high.
