President, PM ask Muslims to learn from Imam Hussain sacrifice

Summary President and PM in their messages have asked Muslims to emulate character of Imam Hussain.

 

President Asif Ali Zardari has urged Muslims to learn from example of supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and Ahle Bait and continue struggle for higher values and triumph of goodness over evil.

 

In a message on the occasion of Ashura in Muharram ul Haram 1434 Hijri, the President said today is the 10th of the honorable and dignified month of Muharram and on this day Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) along with his 72 companions embraced martyrdom in Karbala for goodness and glory of Islam.

 

He said the event which occurred today is the most important in the history of Islam and reminds of the ultimate sacrifices of Ahle Bait and their companions.

 

“The incident teaches all Muslims to render sacrifice for higher values and triumph of goodness.”

 

The President said, “We should always remember that the objective of creation of Pakistan was for the highest purposes for which the family of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave sacrifices.”

 

“Today we have to reiterate our pledge that not only we will follow the teachings of Islam in our lives but will also fight with those forces who want to surrender Pakistan at the altar of narrow mindedness and evil for their selfish interests.”

 

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in his message said that the best way to pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is to follow his character and maintain unity and discipline in ranks to achieve glory of Islam.

 

He said, “while filled with the sense of sacrifice, let us utilise all our energies for the glory of Islam and welfare of nation and make Pakistan a place of peace and security in real terms.” He said, “Youm e Ashur reminds us of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions who proved that for a true Muslim nothing is more important in the world than the honour and dignity of the religion.”
