Summary Chief Justice says no compromise will be made on national interest.

A three-member bench of apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the Reko Diq case on Wednesday.

The counsel for Tethiyan said that the company had the right of mining if it finds the reserves, adding that Tethiyan wouldn’t have invested if it was not sure of getting the mining license.

The state will have to bear the losses if agreement cancelled, he added.

The chief justice remarked that the element of corruption cannot be ruled from this case.

He said the court will see if the agreement had been made according to the law or not, adding that no compromise will be made on national interest.

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed said that it was mandatory to submit feasibility report before issuance of license but Tethiyan did not agree to this condition.
