A meeting between the US Senator John Kerry and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was held in Islamabad on Monday, reported Dunya News. Senator Kerry is on two-day official visit to Pakistan. Earlier, US Central Command Chief General David Petraeus also called on the PM Gilani. Military circles are terming the meeting very important as it took place at a time when operation against militants has kicked off in Waziristan. Sources disclosed that the meeting aimed at alerting Nato forces staying in Afghanistan as Pakistan forces would need help by the allied forces in Afghan border areas. Defense Minister Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen and others officials also attended the meeting. In Kerry-Gilani meeting issues including Kerry-Lugar Bill came under discussion. The PM Gilani said that the security forces had the full government support for the operation. He stressed the need to build strong relations between US and Pakistan. According to Dunya News Correspondent General Petraeus lauded the role of Pakistani forces in eliminating the terrorists from the region. Separately, senior analyst Dr.Shireen Mazari told Dunya News that it couldnt be confirmed when deals gets finalized between Senator Kerry and the government but it was confirmed that KLB wasnt in interest of Pakistan.
