CJCSC, Governor Punjab calls on President

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majeed called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency on Tuesday. Matters relating to overall security situation and professional capabilities of the armed forces were discussed during the meeting. The President lauded the sacrifices of the soldiers who laid their lives to successfully neutralize the terrorists who attacked the General Headquarters on Saturday.Governor Punjab Salman Taseer also called on President Asif Ali Zardari in the afternoon. Overall political and law and order situation in Punjab came under discussion during the meeting. The Governor also apprised the President about status of the ongoing development projects in the province.Earlier, Pakistans High Commissioner designate to Nigeria Major Gen (R) Asif Duraiz Akhtar called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the presidency and discussed matters relating to his new assignment. The President said Pakistan enjoys friendly relations with Nigeria and advised the newly appointed envoy to work for further strengthening of the political, economic and trade relations between the two countries.
